Dear Little Aloysius
Happy birthday!
Another year pass and just a blink of an eye, you now turn into a 4 year little boy! Time flies! E-ma can still remember vividly the day when you first arrived. The image of your little feet, your little hands and your little blushy face are still lingering in my memory.
I know last year must be a challenging year for you. You started going to school and you started learning different new things during your spare time, such as mandarin, swimming, soccer, drama and music. Do you know at the very beginning, I was really worried that allthese activities would tire you out. I also wondered whether it would be too much for a little kid of four. I had talked to your mommy several times. After a year or so, I am now totally relief! Your mommy must have spent a lot of time in scheduling and selecting all these activities that most suit you. I can see you enjoy the activities very much and shows no fatigue. From your participation of all these activities, you grow up a lot. Every now and then, your mommy would send us some video clips. A few videos were taken while you were reading aloud at home. Do you know you have a talent in language and your Putonghua and English (for sure) are even better than most adults. Do you know it is very important to learn our language well! If you cannot master your language, you cannot communicate well. E-ma is working in University and I interact with students daily. I know no matter how bright the students are and how many ideas in their mind they possess, if the student cannot write and cannot speak, they cannot express, and it means absolutely nothing! Therefore, if you still remember, from the very beginning when I started to write letter to you, I urged you to read more and learn the language well. E-ma loves traveling and wherever I go to a place, the first thing that I do is to learn the basic language of the country.
E-ma loves Europe and thus E-ma have spent a lot of time in learning Italian and Spanish. If you are able to communicate with the local people, it would really make your traveling far more interesting! Perhaps it is too early for you to learn other foreign languages, I hope you can remember what E-ma tells you today, put more time in your reading, and master well your languages.
Talking about soccer, you mommy had sent me a short video clip and I ought to tell you that you made me laugh out loud and Icouldn’t help watching it repeatedly! That video was taken when you were in a soccer class. That day was a sunny day, you wore a very bright yellow T-shirt and blue short pants. You really looked like a professional Brazil soccer star! When the coach blew the whistle, you ran really fast, you set your position in front of the net and kick the ball hard …wow wow…but you missed it! The funny thing was you still chased after the football, you caught the football, you picked it up and you threw the football intothe net. You hurray to yourself when you saw the football flying into the net. Oh, my little Aloysius, do you know it was called “hand ball” and you were not qualified for any point even though the football was inside the net. I heard from the video that your coach shouted at you and said “Use your feet, not your hand”! You, little boy, couldn’t care less and felt so happy and running back with flying colors. Your smile was so sweet and you looked so confident on yourself. Whenever I saw that video, I couldn’t control and laughed out, it’s so funny! BUT, little Aloysius, make sure you follow the rules next time, OK?
Remember last year when I wrote to you, I recorded that you love 吊臂車. Whenever you saw the real 吊臂車 in the street, it caught your attention and your eyes and mind just drop on it. Recently, I found your interest has changed a bit. Although 吊臂車 is still your best favor, you also admire Lego and Tomica very much. I enjoy looking you playing with the little bricks and little Tomica vehicles to build your city. I am glad you love Lego, because those little bricks can extend and expand your imagination and creativity. Nowadays, most youngsters are lack of imagination and creativity, E-ma hopes you can fully use your imagination and don’t be constrained by the traditional boundaries.
Finally, a little suggestion to Little Aloysius: Although I know you love toys, and I fully appreciate that your mommy and daddy are often willing to fulfill your demand when you behave well. Now you are at the age of 4, and you are now more mature than last year, I hope you can start thinking about the poor and the less fortunate little kids in other places. You have to know there are many people not having the same luck as you. I know you are a passionate little boy, so once you are able to help other people, try to reach out your hands and help the less fortunate ones, both in kinds and in action. From now on, whenever you wish to buy a new toy, think about them and then you know, you have more than sufficient.
From the bottom of heart, we would like you to know how happy we are you growing in the right path. May you reach all your dreams and we promise to support you all the way!
Happy Birthday!
With love, E-ma Lily
